Asari Legal Acts as General Partner of the III DRC Forum on Construction Dispute Resolution and Contract Management

On the first day, Asari Legal hosted an expert session titled When Time Is Against You: Strategies for Managing Limitation Periods under English Law. The discussion focused on practical approaches to managing limitation periods, including the differences between statutory and contractual time limits, the impact of the frustration and force majeure doctrines, and the implications of relevant notices (time bar / extinction clauses).

The session was moderated by Stanislav Karandasov, partner in the Dispute Resolution practice. Speakers included Khawar Qureshi KC (McNair International), Maxim Astafyev (S7 Group), Ivan Laskov (Asari Legal) and Paul-Raphael Shehadeh (Asari Legal, solicitor of England and Wales).

As part of the main programme, partners and lawyers of Asari Legal spoke at key sessions covering international arbitration, construction contracts, and cross-border disputes. Dmitry Kaysin opened the programme with welcoming remarks and participated in the session Investment Arbitration in Construction and Beyond.

Vasily Bakumenko delivered a presentation on Jurisdictional Battles in Construction Disputes: Tug of War Between Russia, the West, and Asia. Paul-Raphael Shehadeh also took part in a session on anti-suit injunctions, speaking on the limits to their application in arbitration.

On the final day, Stanislav Karandasov moderated a session on construction contracting strategy in the current regulatory environment.
